Matt Smith is quitting the role at the end of the year and the hunt is on for the 12th Dr Who. If folk remember the original storyline of regeneration, Dr Who is limited to 12 ..... so this may very well be the last unless there is a whoooops moment.

Any thoughts on who you would like to see in the role???

Come on angie, keep up  River Song gave the Dr all her regenerations after she tried to kill him in Germany, so who knows how many he has now :p

No idea who I want to be the new Dr, but I DON'T want a woman or a black man. And that is in no way sexist or racist, the Doctor has always been a white male, it would be like saying Mickey Mouse should suddenly become a white female!! I would like to see a return to an older man playing him for a while. John Hurt would be amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing him in the 50th, but obv he's just for the one episode lol.

Ah, thanks Alex - I don't remember that addition to the regeneration span. That was cunning of the writers!

Kathryn Tate :)

I remember Patrick Troughton - :) In those days when theme tune came on i used to hide behind the sofa. The tune was 'scary'- :)

Sean Bean!

It did used to be very scary, I also hid behind the sofa ..... not as scary now except for those weeping angels, I just can't watch them and would hide behind the sofa again if I could (can't fit now!!!!)

Rather like a less well known actor without preconceptions for the audience.

Yes I agree, someone not known for a big role would be good, and a return to the darker times, which there have been hints of over the last series.
