He passed away aged 89 at home with his friends, carers and cat Ptolemy.

I liked Patick Moore - I used to watch Stars at Night as a child and still do when I catch it. He was such an interesting kind gentleman and of course a cat lover.

May he Rest In Peace.
And now he is free to explore the galaxy and walk on stars and planets.

Yes, sad news. He was an inspirational man to many - and always answered letters sent to him. I watched his last Sky at Night broadcast last week, never guessing of course that it would be his last. A real proper English eccentric and will be missed. RIP Patrick - go fly among the stars.

I'd echo what you both said - a lovely, gentle man whose knowledge was phenomenal. And a cat lover too . . . I was very sad to read the news of his passing yesterday.

I thought I'd post this link (hopefully!) to the Cats Protection site In Memory of Sir Patrick Moore. He was a great ailurophile and had asked that donations be made to Cats Protection in his memory.

There is also a link to a site for tributes.

wonderful man he was, and even if you didn't understand what he was talking about he still made it so interesting :)

RIP
