We have another cat coming to stay on the 18th. She us a feisty, ginger girl with mammary tumours. Her owner cannot keep her as her fiancée has turned out to be extremely allergic to her, which only became evident when the moved in together.
Sadly it appears the because she was san indoor cat and her owner did not want to put her through an op, she wasn't neutered until she had a pyometra. I guess this has also contributed to the cancer too.
She has already had tumours removed, but more have appeared. We are taking her and will talk to our vets, we will do all we can to save her, but if there is nothing we else we can do we will keep her comfortable, at the moment she us very bright and well. Her owner is going to pay for her food and insurance so that's good news.

Oh that's so sad. I don't know how you can do it, farthing; that poor girl ... :-( At least she'll be loved and cared for with you during her time left.

Bless her..
You were certainly in the right place at the the right time to take her on farthing. She's a lucky lady in that respect, a very lucky girl to have you step in and ensure that the remainder of her life is as comfortable as possible. Well done farthing, and please give her gentle hugs from me when she arrives in her forever home.. if she'll let you, bless her.

Well, Molly is here, she is very unusual- very dark ginger, small, short haired but with a broad Persian looking face. Just hiding at the moment but looks a pretty girl- just hope she settles and is happy!

Well, I looks like Molly may have behavioural problems as well as health problems- having read the summary of her vet notes she is one of these unpredictable attackers!

Oh my! Has she done it with you yet?

Yes, she has turned while I was petting her and had a bit more of a go at Mike. I think she may be better with women. I do think she will settle, but I don't think she will be fully trustworthy.

Thank you, I think Molly may be a British shorthair, a dark red of cinnamon. I do seem to remember her owner saying she was a pedigree, but I'm not really interested in that kind of thing. I should be as it would help to know about any genetic health issues.

We are also trying to squeeze in another cat, living in hope Mike's sister will take her. She was a stray handed in at our vets, elderly, dehydrated and starving- no other rescues can help so she was going to be PTS. The vets called us and asked if we could help, they are pretty good at only asking in nothing else can be found. Anyway we collect her tomorrow and wait for Mike's sister to make a decision!

You two and your sis are the salt of the earth I wish I had your patience and capacity to be so loving and giving. Bless you for the work you do, for giving these creatures the care they deserve in their twilight years. I'm going to nominate you for a gong in the next honours list ;) xxx

THank you, that made me laugh.
We (I) have named the new cat Dumpling, she's not far off the state Pudding arrived in. My concern is that I don't think she is hyperthyroid ( her coat is lovely and her general bloods were fine), so I'm worried it's something more sinister that has brought her to this state, and I want to know before I give her to Mike's sister, I don't want the expense and heartbreak of a terminal cat to go to her.
Anyway, she's got a gaunt old cat face but her colouring is unusual- she has a tabby face, a tortie body and a silver tabby tail- although that may chance if she improves. Donald was very unusual when he arrived, he was grey with brown tabby marking but has now gone completely grey so I wOnder if it is something to do with malnutrition!

Farthing, she sounds like a torbie to me: tabby face, chest, legs tail and tummy, brindled tortie coat? Any chance of a pic of the old sweetie?

If you keep an eye on Pauleen Anderson Photography facebook page you will gradually see pictures of all the Halfpenny Animals. She is very kindly taking pictures of all the residents for a portfolio, sponsorship pictures and ultimately a calendar!
