yesterday I was on one farm and they had three about 5 week old kittens and 2 of them had their whiskers burnt - I am 100 % sure they were burnt because I took a very close look. The whiskers of the third kittens were normal.
When I asked the owner why they had their whiskers burnt he claimed to know nothing about it and said they were probably running somewhere and burnt them on the fire or something. I don't wan't to be too suspicious but I can't quite believe that. But before I go asking more questions i want your opinions - am I just too suscpicious and it could have indeed be an accident or do you think it was intentional? But if the latter was the case than why one of the kitten was OK and none were affraid of me (a stranger)? But than again 2 kittens with burn whiskers is too much of a coincidence?
I don't know how to proceed, your opinions pls-

Are you sure they are burnt? Mother cats often chew off their kittens whiskers and that could be the case here.

well the tips of the whiskers are brown, while the whiskers itself are white...Plus the owner said they no longer have a mother...

I will probably sleep this one over and go take a look again soon

I have noticed what I call ticking on my Kizzy whiskers which fall out occasionally quite naturally. The shaft of the whisker may be white but the tip is brown, although it looks perfectly healthy and has obviously not been burnt. It could be natural.

How old are the kittens, were they weaned?

well they get milk and don't look thin or anything...

Nxt time I ago I will try to take some pics - it is not like a few whiskers here ant there are brown - it is like they are all very short and brown at the tip - but I don't want to accuse anybody. I will probably go take another look on monday or tuesday

If the whisker tapers to a point at the tip and the tip is brown IMO that would be a normal healthy whisker. If it looks blunt or frazzed at all, then I would consider that it has been burnt either accidentally or on purpose.
