My Cat

If I became your cat friend
Imagine where we'd go
Hunting and fighting other cats
In sun or rain or snow.

You'd tell me all your secrets
All the places that you'd been
and laught about the humans
And all the sights you'd seen.

You'd speak to me of memories
Of what you'd seen of me
You'd tell me how you'd watched me try
And cry to never be.

You'd say "Don't worry anymore
"Now you're a cat like me
"We'll hunt and feed and sleep a lot
"And that will always be.

But I am just a human
And dreams are all I've made
I'm not my cat; so safe and sure
For I am just afraid.
