This wee gentleman is considering coming to stay with us:

Hopefully in just over two weeks when he'll be old enough to leave mum.
There may be more stories in your future. :-D

He's another Abyssinian but a different colour. No relation to Rover (alas) but I love his thoughful personality and mean pawball skills. :)

I've been invisible for a bit because life and health were rather far from ideal but I hope to be back now and will most certainly keep you up to date on the Toffee Tails.

He's a Fawn. Rover's dad was fawn too. They're not that common but that is not why I like him so much. :)
The Abyssinian colour set has grown (at least in the GCCF) and now includes silvers and torties amongst others. :) (Some of them to be found here (http://www.theabycat.com/photoreel.asp?current=13&fwd=1).)

Ah, fawn! Think I may have vaguely noticed a mention of that somewhere; haven't Googled Aby sites in a long time. Will have a look at our CFA site too, see what's new. He is just adorable.......

It will take away pain of missing having a cat, even if I will probably miss Rover for the rest of my life.

Favourite toy: Foam-rubber earplugs. they are just the right size to carry about, they roll funny and you can stuff all of them under the bed when you get bored and watch the two-leggers crawl about fishing them out again so you can start over. :)

Food: He's a foodie - good! He eats all the usual cat food, loves salmon sashimi and likes squid & prawns dustless but will play with mussles until they are filthy and then bury them and pretend they never existed.

Toffee is good at vanishing himself so I have my work cut out... He's so small that he fits into the tiniest spaces and strangely for a pale-coloured cat, manages to be invisible even in places where I *should* see him such as under the sofa. So far we've lost him beind the bed in a gap so small we didn't think he could possibly be there, and we lost him down the back of the sofa.

I sometimes think cats can generate a sort of force field that distorts light so they appear not to be there .... they do have lots of mysterious powers like ESP and matter transmission (food moves from bowl to inside cat within nanosecond) .......:-D

Worn out and has given himself carpetburns  on both front dewclaws from playing with his ball and with all the earplugs we have in the house. :D We're now making him play on the bed and downstairs on the wooden floor so they have a chance to recover and so that Better Half will have a set of useable earplugs for tonight.

Carpet burns? Wouldn't have thought that possible ..... does he skid about a lot?
Oh yes, flashing paws of dooooooooom. :) He didn't have carpeting at his breeders' (not the best of surfaces for litterbox training kittens ^^) so he's used to a more slippery surface where he wouldn't have had the friction & so he's going too fast.

He's taken to it like a pro. Hasn't quite worked out how far he can race away on the lead  but we're getting there. He's already out-grown one harness (back-strap is now too short), not sure this blue (dog) harness is quite right but he will have to grow a bit to fit Rover's harness as the chest-loop ends up as a low-slung belt, which definitely won't work. :-D My custom-harness supplier has stopped making new ones, which is a shame (but I do understand why she stopped when she did) so we'll have to make do.

And dandysmom, I know you like to see the Abyssinians out and about on the pavements around the world. ^^ We have yet to meet a dog on our walks but it will be interesting how he reacts then. Hoping he is a soul-son of Dandy. :)

I agree. Rover never played with cat toys, he prefered shredding kitchen rolls, string, ... anything not bought for him specifically.
They'd have agreed on chicken being the True Food of Cats, though. :)

Oh yes. Sultan, The Chicken Inspector who conned a neighbor out of some; and blatantly stole a half-roast chicken from the fridge right under my nose.... twice....

Easy - I have to work to earn his keep.

He's off to visit the vet - just a visit - and off for a drive in the car so he doesn't forget that he's ok with both. :) We have very nice vets and receptionist who encourage people to just drop in so that the visits to the vets are not a big deal to the cat/dog/hamster/...

Small steps and slowly increasing the time (and very fun games or very sleepy kitty) indoors to start with and you might get away with it. Depending on what his mates have told him about cats in harness, of course. ^^

Ah, Sunday morning. Hot and cold running servants and much attention, who couldn't nap through that. :cat3

I'd finished my morning run (over the bed with the sleeping human. He makes such encouraging calls as "seven in the morning...!O_o" and then paw-ball practice. One has to stay fit and healthy.), had done my business in the just-cleaned litter tray and let her-of-the-scoop know that the tray was filthy. Public service thing - I was there when it happened, she didn't have to get all huffy about it...
When I wandered downstairs there was a LUMP on my sofa!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h49/Hreow/Cat/discovery.jpg

Now this is why you have to stay fit! I jumped the cur, wrapped all my legs around its nose and gnawed at its ear, like so:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h49/Hreow/Cat/dominance.jpg

Fawn belt catjitsu master wins the day. And the sofa.

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h49/Hreow/Cat/victor.jpg

Not on my watch, you don't sleep on *my* sofa! I'll let you know when to come back to warm cold paws and not a minute before. You might even get your bone back.

Toffee is as well 'ard as a school dinner noodle... I can describe his style as "superbly inefficient" at best and that is the only time he's managed to get the puppy off the sofa.
He's currently having his ears dog-groomed. Maybe if we'd named him "prickly cactus" the soppily doting cur wouldn't be constantly licking him. :cat9 :smt017:

Cats don't need to read The Silent Miaow ... they learn that bit with their mother's milk, apparently ..... so funny!

I'm boooooooooored:

I rid the world of the nasty feather duster monster:

I explored tunnel-sleeping

Twice!:

I found a very rare (and scary) fly:

And chased it off:

So join me now as we escape the sunny spot in the window (the sunlight moved off it - Ed) and venture outside where it is *far* more exciting!
