How do you stop 1 cat eating the others dinner/brakfast? Harris has never been a big eater, hetends to pick at is food during the day and the same when we put it out at night, however, Skye eats hers then goes straight to his and eats it. Harris is starting to look a bit thinner now hes still healthy looking but ust thinner looking because he isnt getting the food that he should so getting a bit worried about him now.

Any suggetstions as to how to stop Skye eating both portions?

Do you have a spot where Harris can get to but Skye cannot? Can you create such a place?

The only real option is to have separate feeding areas where Skye can't steal Harris' food.

If Harris won't learn to eat it all up at once, then separate feedings seem the only solution. Sultan used to like to leave some on his plate to come back for later; when Misty came (she had been a starving little stray), she promptly ate what was left after she'd finished hers. Her motto was: "If you see food, eat it!!!) So he quickly learned to eat it all or it was gone ....

Would agree that best solution is to give him a private dining area!

Also agree that he may learn that if he doesn't eat it all at one sitting then he'll be hungry.

However, some cats don't seem to realise that, especially if they've been used to grazing.

Wonder if it is possible to give him a mid meal extra in a separate room - and that is is a high quality feed so it helps him to keep on weight?

we have bought a different brand of food which harris is wolfing down as soon as its put down to him this morn!!! a wee change in food has worked wonders, skye doesnt get a chance at the moment to steal it as he is eating it up. He seems to love the asda's brand "tiger" salmon and trout mix

What a lucky solution! :D I hope he doesn't go off it.....

Amber only eats a certain amount & Tim comes along & finishes hers off. I keep the dishes topped up with wet & dry - they have 2 dishes each. I may change when both are adults however for time being i like them both to know food is always freely available & they have to come inside to get it :)
