Cat Run

I may have mentioned that Amber and Timmy have been taking a lot more interest in the outside world. Im torn between letting them just go outside or protecting them as they are doing until we can at least see if Tim can have boosters or not

I phoned a local Joiner who had an advert in the post office this morning about putting up a cat run for us in the garden attached to the house and he said that yes he would do that - so all being well he will becoming out over the weekend and take it from there - so please keep your fingers crossed folks. If nothing else it will acclimatise them to being outiside and if all goes well eventually outside later summer. They will still have the run of the back of the house plus their outside run, a cat flap will take them from the back of the house to the run. Just hope this guy agrees to do it else we are back to square one. How big the run is will depend on the cost but I am hoping about 20-25ft in length by about 5Ft wide by about 6ft in height - I will need access into it to keep it tidy etc so please everyone keep your fingers crossed this happens:)

Hes been! Cat runs going to be 30 ft plus :) It will take him 3 days. Off out today to get a cat flap. Hes to phone me back with an estimate - so excited & happy..... Can see Amber chasing butterflys & moths

I think this is a great idea and should be very good for Timmy and Amber. Don't forget a shady area if your garden gets a lot of sunshine! Hope all goes well with the build.

Good idea Angie, may get him to cover first part of it from the house roof wise.

Got the cat flap this morning!

Have had both out on harnesses, Tim not keen, ran back into the house today :( Amber loves it & yowls her indignation when we come in. Its just to get them used to it & seeing how reticent Tim is, think now the run will be good for Tim. Bit like Izzy & Breagh, one keen & curious & other timid

Skip from two doors away was bit of pain, kept coming over
& hissing & growling at Amber who wasnt unduly worried. Even though pushed him (gently) away he was too persistent so in my best imitation dog mode, gave him a good snarling growl - he got the message - lol

Sounds great. My cat is harnessed attached to a retractable dog lead attached to a washing line. This gives him full run of the garden but he is also restricted. He has had this since 12 weeks old (he was going to be a house cat) and knows no difference. He loves his freedom and I know he is safe (I live on a main road) you cant do that with 2 though!! lol
