Casper continued his first steps out into the big wide world today. A bit more 'upward' than I would have liked...

Did he get down OK? My little Pip liked to climb trees, but he's too big now

Oh goodness! Right up into the small branchlets! Hope he did manage to get down alright. And that he doesn't do too many other gravity defying climbs in the near future.

Oh wow, some great shots there, especially that first one! How high was he, Phil?

He scrabbles up to the top really quickly and seems to get up and down without any problems - I'd say he's 20 feet up or so and it's above tufty soft grass.

I should've expected it because when he was akitten at the cat shelter he climbed around the compound and even in the cattery they said he was swinging about like a monkey.

He's so light and agile just now that he's fine in the wispy branches. Perhaps once he's beefed up a bit things might change though.

Me? I broke my arm last time I climbed a tree, properly. It was a huge old beech tree, with massive branches, and I went up one - several times, until the time I got distracted going up the tricky bit...

Those are scary heights. Brave little Casper. Was your heart not in your mouth watching him?

At the time ...yes as he was just a baby but what can you do if you decide to give total freedom other than just watch them find their way in the world.

Watch this space..........he's getting even braver.....

Fab photos:D They're just fearless as youngsters!

I remember years ago my burmese X raced up the big chestnut tree on the Green in the middle of our cul de sac. He got almost to the top & sat there meowing at us. We were just about to leave for work, all dressed up in our work suits & I said tomy husband that I couldn't leave with Fintan stuck up a tree. So hubby went indoors, changed into old jeans, fetched the step ladders & propped them against the tree. He stoically climbed up the ladder to where the branches divided, then scrabbled further up to almost within touching distance of Fintan. At that Fintan gave a little chirrup & lithely skipped all the way down the tree

At which point we heard all these cheers & clapping & realised that all our neighbours were watching my husband's futile attempt to "rescue" Fintan!! Never again did I worry about Fintan getting stuck!

Awww, what a lovely story, wilbar! As someone once said, you never see a cat skeleton in a tree .........

Oh Casper, you daring little thing... :D
Was at the vets yesterday and there is a man who left business card for rescuing cats out of trees  (humane society, fire department, etc. does nothing and people don't know what to do so he created a service!)

Great Story Wilbar.

Casper is turning out to be quite a climber but so far he's not got himself stuck.
