We had to take Deli, the 14 year old dalmation into the vet. She has been very stiff and falling over the last couple of weeks, yesterday she didn't even bother to get up for food, she ate if she was taken to it. We took her into the vet and she has had x-rays and bloods done. Her liver enzymes are back up and she has severe spondolytis. She is already on a steriod tablet for the neurological issues involved and is getting acupuncture but will also go onto tramadol. The vet says she will go off her back legs at some point ( fairly soon) and we will have to let her go.

Donald and Pudding ( cats) were also in for blood tests and they are both in renal failure.

So all in all- not a good day!:(

Oh dear, what a sad day. But of course no matter what the vet says the good thing is the animals don't get it they live in the moment and sounds like Deli (superb name by the way for a Dalmation I have known two and both would be first in any Deli/food queue :) )is as comfortable as she can be and with such loving caring owners what more could she ask?

I do sometimes wonder about the renal faliure with cats it seems very common but Oz was in renal failure for about 6 years from his late teens. Hope that works out too.
