bailey was was one of 8 babies born to my mummy rat, who i'd only had for a week when she gave birth. it was at the same time a worrying and enjoyful experience, as a rat owner since a young age i'd never experienced 'pinkies' i loved every single minute of raising these babies, so much so when they were old enough, i couldnt bear to give any away. i knew having all my rats the same age, there was going to be heartbreak, but i didnt expect it so soon. i lost mummy rat a month ago today to tumours in the abdomen, and now her daughter bailey to the same thing

i first noticed a lump in her groin on tuesday night, along with some tiny ones under her skin. was at the vets yesterday and was decided that as she was strong and herself, that we would have an op to get this tumour out. i had a call from the vets to say that there were lots of little tumours attatched along her intestines, and aswell as the large mass another. there was no way they could be removed. to save her suffering and any pain which would have happened very soon due to the quick growth of these tumours, i agreed to let her go in her sleep i am heartbroken, she was my wee baby :(

bailey was quite mischeavous at times and had a specialty in grooming, she made sure your nails were short enough (ouch!) and there were no lumps through your hair!! she was very sensitive while on heat and you couldnt even pick her up. i cried a lot of my tears last night as i was worried, while she chased a feather wand around the bed, and on going down to the carrier this morning, nestling in my hair. i left her in the vets munching away at some puffed wheat after kissing her goodbye. so sleep tight my sweet little girl, go and play with your mummy who was also cruelly taken away at such a young age.
