Still not a shoot anywhere. I think I shall give up and look for a Dragon Fruit in the supermarket!
My Dragon Fruit plants are doing well.:) I planted the seeds that Moli very kindly sent me in July last year. I made the mistake of standing them in the garden when we went on holiday this year and a hungry snail ate a few of them.:(
These are the ones that survived!

I'd forgotten about them! My seeds never germinated. Yours are looking good, Mags!

About the same age as yours, I did take a few out and pot them, they are about the size of yours...

 Like Eileen's, mine didn't germinate either. May have been my fault, trying to get the seeds out of their mucous. Yours really look good Mags - well done!

I left a lot of the gooey stuff on them when they were planted, Angie..:D

Are they cacti?

Dragon plants are cacti.
The 'gooey' stuff does protect and nourishes the seed to a certain extent when they are planted, just leave it on, it keeps the seed moist and along with under-heat aids germination. But cacti can be hard to germinate anyway so it probably wasn't this that was the problem, they do best in a sand, compost, and perlite mix, and can be prone to damping off in the early stages, but once you've got over that hurdle they're away!

Mine were grown indoors in ordinary multi purpose compost in July'10, they germinated in about two weeks........ the seedling stayed quite small until Spring this year when they began to grow fast.:)

Mine were in ordinary potting soil, perhaps that was a reason for non-germination??
I have always used ordinary multipurpose compost for mine...

So just bad luck then, I guess.

Nothing too heavy is fine, and underheating is always good. Maybe they were planted too deep, not warm enough, too wet, too dry, it could have been any number of things..

IMO, people with names beginning with "M" can grow them!
