OK - a bit of background. I've been at OH for a while now as this is the first time since I was 17 I've been catless. I had thought to go to CP and offer mum and male kitten a home as, although, like everyone I love kittens I always feel the poor mums get left behind. I also did want a male.

OH has been very reluctant - losing the two cats within 6 months of each other hit him harder that I thought.

Anyway today we were out for a drive to Inverary and popped in to see a farmer friend. These two were in his kitchen.

Mum was a stray who he had been feeding. She went AWOL for a few weeks and then appeared with 4 kittens. He has homed two of them and these two were left. She was bringing them into the house for food so they were reasonably used to being handled. Mum will be neutered next week and can continue to live with him if she wishes. OH was ok about letting them play around him etc but despite pleading looks from me and 'wouldn't they be great together comments' he made no comment.

As we were ready to leave Dan, the farmer said to me - 'haven't you forgotten something?' and handed me a cardboard box with both babies in it.

My wonderful OH had planned this last week and not told me. Which was a lovely thought - but - no litter, no food, no toys. So thankfully I still had a bag of litter and got some felix kitten food in local shop.

They are mega cute - aged somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks he reckoned. Both girls but I can live with that.

Need to get my name hat on. Poor Cali is terrified of them, she'll be fine in a day or so.

Best bit is I still have 4 days holiday before I go back to work so all plans out the window. I will be housebound looking at kittens!

Oh what a wonderful surprise your OH planned!! Any man who plans such things is fine by me
What a lovely day it has become for you. I would do the same and settle into kitten watching for the rest of your holiday :-D How sweet they are and how nice of your friend to fix and offer a place for the Mum. Happy ending for all!
Hmmm...names.....I think we'll need more photos to get some ideas  How sweet, a pair of little girls...Awww :D

How wonderful!!! Your OH is one great guy!! They are adorable little bundles of joy. I sort of felt bad during the quizzes when we'd mention what ours were doing, and you were catless..... I'm so happy for you and them! More pics! :D

On the naming front can I ask do you like "human" names for cats?
If so what about Tabitha and Lily.......Tabitha for spots as in "Tabby" and Lily for stripes as in "Tiger".

Not bothered either way. My cats in the past have been a mixture.

Oh what a sweet thing to do.. I have read this story to my OH to plant into his brain for future reference (although I doubt that will work!!!).

They are so adorable. Kittens make my heart melt. They are going to be complete timewasters for you for a long time! I like all the names suggested, so I am glad I am not the one chosing!
