Great names Mags - been trying to think of non gender names as I won't know the sex until they're older. So if you don't mind that will be their names!!

The Dad is an Australorp.

These two have Matilda the Lohmann Brown as mum.

The other one (pics below) has a cuckoo Maran (Mavis) as Mum.

Managed to get a few more pics this afternoon. Martha has abandoned the rest of the eggs so I assume she decided nothing was going to happen.

They are already into their chick crumbs and water - just copy Mum and learn so fast. I am so pleased with them.

This is chick number three - has a white bib! What about a name for this wee one then?

What a happy looking mum! Baby chicks are right up there on the cuteness scale with kittens and puppies. I like Jeeves too ..... but that's not unisex, he may be she!

Today Martha has taken them out into the run. They stay so close to her but are scratching at the earth and exploring all the new things they can see. The other hens are visiting and getting a scolding from Martha if she thinks they are too close- even although there is the chicken wire between them.

Thought Biba was a good name for chick number three for now.

Hope at least one is a girl!
