Here are a few pics of our Roses, the bush is very old and a climber. It flowers early Summer right through to late Autumn and gets masses of Roses on with a beautiful scent.

Sorry Kazz i haven't a clue. Howard's parents planted it 25 years ago and they are unfortunately no longer with us to ask. They are a lovely compact velvety Rose, the bush next to it has never done much, it has Yellow roses which are pretty for a couple of days but then become all blowsey, if that's the correct word.

That's really a glorious rose Shelley. Shame you can't find out now what it's called. What sort of scent does it have? Musky, flowery, light, sexy ...........................

Why is it when you find a perfect rose it's generally impossible to identify? OH and I stopped on the way home a couple of weeks ago to take some photos of a pub where my schoolfriend's parents had the licence many moons ago. It is still a pub, so I took some photos to send her. There was a glorious yellow rose by the fence and it smelled divine. No idea what it was though.

I would describe it as heady Angie if that makes any sense.

Yes, it does Shelley - probably musk. I adore roses.

I have a lovely pink rose at the front of my house which has a delightful scent. It flowers quite late and is nowhere near flowering yet. Again, I have no idea what variety it is.

Perhaps we should have a "Guess the Name of the Rose" thread????

That's spectacular! I'll take a look thru my rose book tonight, but there are so many crimson fragrant climbers. As Angie said, almost impossible to identify. Whatever it's name, it's beautiful.

That's a beautiful velvet rose, Shelley :)

I used to have a lovely red climber with a yellow rose next to it many years ago ..... I had visions of the red and yellow roses intertwining but no, like yours, the yellow climber didn't grow nearly as well as the red one.:( I wonder if it's anything to do with growing them next to each other :?
