View Full Version : Sea Bass....anyone?
Okay here we are I am now officialy bored ;) but living with it nd taking it easy.
Following on from Eileen's mention of her dinner being swordfish I thought I need to vary my fish eating away from Cod, plaice, lemon sole.
And wonder has anyone tried Sea Bass and if so whats it like.:)

Never had it before Kazz - but if you try it can I be invited??? hehehehe
Yes, it's delicious!
The trick is not to overcook it. I had it once in Portugal baked in a salt crust and so soft it fell off the bone. An easier method is to wrap in foil and bake with a delicate herb such a dill or tarragon and a splash of lemon juice and enjoy :D
Thanks Yola I figured like Lemon sole gently maybe steam???

I've never tried it; I'm not terribly venturesome when it comes to fish. I usually stick to my favorites: trout, salmon or swordfish. I'll look at that the next time I'm in the mood for fish.

I can vouch for Sea Bass too - I had a gorgeous dish once, baked and served on linguini with walnut and ??? herb (can't remember what).
Years ago, I also won a beach angling competition - caught a Bass.
Oh says it is absolutely delicious. The locals catch it in the village and sell it fresh to the restaruants as it is very popular.

I wonder if sea bass is the same as our striped bass? If so, it's absolutely delicious! Striped bass are commonly called rockfish here.
