Just got back from the vets.

Dylan's been in another fight, he's got a wound right by his wrist (left front leg) He was limping pretty badly today  :(

The vet said we did well to get him in when we did because it could easily have become infected had we left it  My understanding is he might have lost his paw had it become infected

He's now got antibiotics and he's had a pain killing injection. The vet said if he's no better by tomorrow then to take him back in again.

Thanks God for insurance, that's all I can say! :-D

Aww Mr Dylan! Hope his leg heals quickly. Thank goodness he is okay though :cat27
Dylan is going to have to take it easy on fighting (Dylan probably says no way!)

Hope he is better soon, one of the trials of having a fighter.

Dylan's problem is he takes pleasure in beating up a ginger/white male cat across the road

Kado, Dylan's the bully, the other cats in the neighbourhood try to avoid him where they can

It's the other boy cats he beats up - girl cats he flirts with

I wish him a speedy recovery, and that the other male cats will keep away from him so he can stop getting bitten!

Thanks EmmaG :D

We've managed to bathe his paw today, he really didn't enjoy it though! The moment I let him go he was off out the cat flap and so far he's not returned.

Gone off fighting again probably

When you bathe his paw again use a teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda in a small cup of warm water. Bicarb is a brilliant antiseptic and helps heal really quickly.

His paw seemed a little sore today when I cleaned it for him again. There's no pus or anything there, it's just very red (like dried blood red) but he struggled a lot while I was trying to do it for him.

He took his tablet like a lamb though and he's stopped limping. Apart from when he wants sympathy

LOL reminds me of one of our pups that broke her paw when she was very young. She will hold it up in mock pain when she really wants something like a treat even though this was many years ago

LOL, Tink, have you ever read "Cats of Punchbowl Farm"? There was a cat in that book that did the same thing: hold up the poorly paw when sympathy was required ... but after several years had lapsed she would hold up ....... the wrong paw!! :-D

There s really not a lot you can do when you have a "fighter" is there ? My Smudge bless him, constantly fighting any other male cat, constant yowling outside, constant bites, constant vets, one day he came in white chest soaked with blood - such panic. I thought he had been shot. Smudge was calmly cleaning his paws. Son said its a bite wound. Vets said it was so deep in his chest cavity it might have even affected his heart!! Took him back the next day for further check up and he was yowling to go out within 24 hours. :? He never learned. He certainly used his nine lives up. Jan x

Dylan's ben after the sympathy vote recently

His paw is pretty much healed up now, but Dylan is still trying to convince us his paw is still hurt

Thing is, he holds up the wrong paw

LOL, just like the cat in the book!

He'll start off lifting up one paw, then he'll suddenly think "or was it this paw?" and change over paws

It didn't stop him hunting a baby rabbit and deciding it was good to eat yesterday evening though DM
