He may just be a very vocal chap Lisa - but I wonder if he is comfortable. Could he have a sore tummy (he has had a few problems in that area, hasn't he?) - if he's due for a vet check, I'd be inclined to tell them about his constant miaowing and get them to give him a good check over just in case. Otherwise, it's ear muffs for you!

Harry never shuts up... Hubby says she is a typical female...

she talks to me.. talks to her toys... walks around the house talking to nothing in particular...it took me quite a few months to get used to it as i've never had a cat that was vocal ALL THE TIME for apparently no reason:shock:

Could there be some Siamese in his background? They will talk your ear off! Some cats are very vocal; good idea having the vet give him a look ....

My Smudge was a talker - used to drive me nuts at times. The only time she was quiet was when she was eating or sleeping!

If there are no underlying problems then you've got a talking cat. Sympathy - but it can be funny trying to decide how many different sounds they have.

CM, one of the questions I didn't use the last time I did the quiz was vocal sounds: dogs have about 10, cats about 100 !

Wow - no wonder they can be so expressive.

My Onyx was a black moggy and when she got to trust me she'd meet me at the bus stop and walk home with me, telling me all about her day, non-stop!

Many kittens from a Siamese x moggy cross are black ... I suspect she was.

I must say I quite like it, although probably not if I had a cat talking to me all the time! Once Pip and I were having a conversation (in cat) in the hall and a visitor heard and said "Were you talking to your cat?" - she is a cat person, luckily!

All of which reminds me of a rather bad joke:

Little boy was almost 2 years and had never spoken a word; his parents were terrribly worried about it. Until one day at breakfast he suddenly said "This oatmeal is cold!"

His Mom and Dad were amazed and delighted and asked him why he had never spoken before, to which he replied "There's been nothing to complain about until now"

 ...said it was a bad joke

I wonder whether a talkative cat is (a) happy or (b) complaining - as per dandysmom's joke!

That's hoping he is as fit as a fiddle of course.
