If I can get an appointment at short notice that is.

Today when Dominik was playing with her and she was holding his arm with her little fluffy legs, I noticed a fur-covered lump on her lower paw, between the 'knee' joint and the foot. It's not a cyst as it doesn't move and doesn't seem to contain liquid, but it feels coarse, hard and scabby underneath the fur. It doesn't seem to be causing her discomfort but something about it made me uneasy.

I'm not taking any chances . . . .

I would be the same, no point in worrying if a vet visit can give you an answer.

Same here; better safe than sorry. Hope all is good news tomorrow, Yola; awaiting a report with crossed fingers. Too much sad news here lately!

Do you think it could be a bite or a scratch cut thats just gone mankey..... the fact its not hurting her is good I would think.

But they are sent to try us.....cats eh?

Hi all - yes, it is a bite or a scratch that has gone mankey - the fur grew over what was obviously a small wound and an infection set in. Fifi is prone to scabs but these have never caused anything but a mild annoyance.

I have some strong antibiotics for her to take for a week. The vet said there is still some pus in the centre of the wound, and it needs to stay open to help it heal - it's about the size of a 2p peice on her delicate little paw :( She also said that there may be a risk of it being prone to mutate into tumour  so if it's not well on the way to healing in 3-4 days or if it gets worse I'm to go back right away and they'll remove the whole infected area.

The vet commented on what a placid little thing she is. She said most cats would try and have her arm off if she snipped away fur from an open wound. Fifi just gazed at her. Bless.

Hope the ABs clear the infection and there won't be the need for further action.
