Sad to announce we put Katie down yesterday evening. Her diabetes was under control but she had a major internal infection which had really taken hold. Her condition deteriorated over the last week and she was having problems with her back legs and started with eating problems over the weekend.

In one way it was a tough call, in others it was easy. She slipped away in my arms very quietly. She was 11; we got her as a rescue 7 years ago. The house is very empty without her.

Oh no. There seems to be bad news everytime I open Catsey in the mornings. I'm so sorry about Katie, you must be very upset . . . but it sounds like you did the right thing for her.

I am so sorry to hear about Katie - its heart breaking and its an awful deciion to have to make. I have had to make that decision twice and as I have two elderly cats (nearly 18 and nealry 16) its something I dread to think about. But its the last kind thing you can do for them to put them out of suffering and you did the right thing for Katie. R I P sweet Katie. Jan x

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts, they're a great comfort.

We'll give it a few weeks and then start looking to take on a couple more rescue cats. When we do I'll tell you about them. Thanks again.
