We have a group of elderly hens who are without a rooster.
I contacted a local rescue asking if they had any lightweight, older roosters looking for a new home- and the had a few. We took home a black, silkie cockerel we have called Truffles, and and after a week's quarantine will be introduced to the girls( after worming etc).
So I hope will settle in for the few years he has left.

I'm so bad because we can't really afford to take in any more!
