I have just agreed to take in cat number 12.

I got a call from a friend who is a mental health nurse, and one of their clients/ patients has a cat who is being looked after by pet fostering sevices. The foster carer can't cope because the cat is meowing all the time and wants it removed. The service can't offer another place, the SSPCA can't help, the CP can't help- owner is homless and in care herself for quite a long time and then will be placed in a half-way house. My friend was worried because it was starting to look like the cat would be PTS, after a discussion I said we could take it but needed to know for how long- and whether it would end up being rehomed. The owner has agreed to rehome the cat to us, but wants to keep in touch. So a 2 year old male cat called Yogi arrives on Friday.
I've just sent Mike a text to let him know, not heard back from him yet!

Oh dear - and were you under strict instructions to NOT take in any more waifs and strays? Still, I'm sure Mike will relent when he realises what dire straits Yogi was in.

Look forward to seeing a pic of him when he arrives with you :D

How wonderful of you to take Yogi in when you already have so much going on.
My very favourite childhood Teddy is called Yogi.

Well Mike was fine about Yogi coming, he seemed to find it funny. I did push the fact that Yogi was only 2 so hopefully had no health issues.

Yola, we both said we could take in no more animals because of time and financial constraints, perhaps he found it funny because I gave in. I was hard pushed last week to refuse a goat but it wasn't a life or death situation and we really don't have room at the moment for another one.

The only problem is we already have a Yogi, one of the parrotlets, so I think I may need to change the cat's name- I was thinking about something like Hogi, or Logi ( what do you think- I really need to see him first)

It will be interesting to see what his behaviour is like, I have met 2 other cats who came from owners with mental health problems and they both have issues ( Pod and Fluffy) where they want to be friends but also can't relax and purr while also growling. I now there are many different kinds of MH problems so I hope he has no problems behaviour wise.

You just couldn't have refused could you.

I hope he works out ok - he is young so hopefully any behaviour can be changed.

Logi is a nice name.

Actually I was thinking of a dog on OFF, but yes, you're right!! Cats can get in enough mischief on their own

Congrats on your new addittion - I currently have 2 from an MH situation in the isolation wing - no names yet but am aiming at Wispa and Fudge

My OH gave me the silent teatment to but has relented and is going to worm them when he is off on Friday!

Somehow we always find room - and a forgiving OH!

Ours are both aged 2 as well!

Well, Yogi has arrived and he is gorgeous. He is a peachy ginger and white boy, with big eyes. He seems very friendly and has been given a glowing referrence from his foster carer- he needs to be removed because she works abroad not because of his meowing.

I am really liking the name Loki, and after a discussion with Mike, he may well become Loki.

Ginger & White - sounds just like a couple of other cats on here, with big personalities and full of mischief, so Loki may just be the right name for him :D

Photos please when you have time, farthing!

Glad he's arrived with you, sounds like Loki's landed squarely on all 4 paws. Looking forward to hearing how things develop and whether he's got any issues that need working on.
