Good news is we are taking Ella, bad news is, it wont be for a few weeks yet, so really not that bad is it.;)
Took G to see her yesterday and he was his usual arsey self, just kept saying that she'd be a really good cat for some one but not us:roll:
Any way on the way home I asked why she wouldnt be a good cat for us and he said we had lost too many in such a short space of time:shock: . I reminded him that Woody was 15 years old, he died a few years before Winston. Winston died 4 years ago at the grand age of 21 and Eva was unfortunate to have died so young and the condition she had was rare in respect that the vets in Scotland that we delt with had only ever had two other cases like hers.
I told him that it would be very sad that if a few months down the line, we thought Bernie could do with a companion, we had lost out on one that was so like him in personality.
G became very thoughtful after this so I let it lie until this morning, then inquired if her had given it any more thought.
We then discussed the implications of insurance because she has a dodgy leg etc.
He then said, well if I dont say yes, I'm not going to hear the bloody end of it.
Now the next dilema is her name as she does not respond to Ella or anything else, she responds to anything ending in y.

So pleased you have persuaded G to accept "Ella" into you home, Elaine.

As you say she would be the ideal companion for Bernie and needs someone like you to give her the love she deserves.

Well done!

That's lovely news Elaine, all you have to do now is think of a name. That can't be too hard can it? surely?

Result! What about Elly (or is that too simple)?

Thats good news about taking her.

Elly is a good solution....did you have anything in mind?

I did think of Elly and Helen, I think, is trying to get her to respond to that but she thinks she must have been called kitty or some such thing as that's what she responds best to. So I was trying to think of something that sounded a bit more like Kitty, but NOT Kitty.

Oh I like Ellie or Elly!

Poor G - he is grieving and tying to avoid another loss. I think you have both tackled this very well together.

Good luck with getting ready for her arrival and with the choice of name.

Oh, I am so please Elaine. That is great news for her and for you. Cats have a way of finding the right person sometimes don't they.

Katie is not that far off Kitty depending on your accent! And there are loads of diff spellings.

Can't think of anything else that is close to Kitty.

Whatever it ends up as it really should be Lucky!

I think Hattie's nice, or Betty (), Sooty (bit trite), Lottie . . .

I was like that driving Chico (Myshka) back from picking him up from Karen . . . I was (a) trying lots of names out to see which suited him and (b) calling them out to see which one he'd respond to.

Of course he couldn't hear me above the almighty racket he himself was making . . .

Good luck with choosing a name mate, I'm sure you'll pick a great one that'll suit Ella down to the ground :D
