cass my youngest who ive had since she was 6 wks old,is very strange:shock: she's nearly 2,so ud think she'd be fairly normal,i have toby also who is 15 and the dog who is 5,when a baby she didnt want u touching her, less she came for attention first, then she'd sit on u for hrs, cuddling in

i hardly see her nowadays, less she is bugging the older cat,or late at nite

but she WILL come if i shout "anyone want sweeties" did i do something wrong when she was younger,or is it just her nature? lots of things still scare her,the buzzer going when someones at the door, noises in the stair, the dog barking

shouldnt she be used to all that by now, they vet thinks she may mellow as she gets older:roll:

but i dunno!!!! any thoughts ??

What a gorgeous girl she is.

Unsure, may just be her nature. Or how she was socialised as v young kitten. She doesn't sound scared of you just certain things?

Maybe someone else has more experience of nervy cats.

Some cats are just naturally nervous and stressy. My Siamese boy was. Do you know if she was handled and socialized as a kitten? It just may be that she's not a really socialable people-oriented cat ....???

That's a real shame - she looks so lovely and cuddly and is such a pretty girl.

It may be her character that has developed through no fault of yours ..... or perhaps she was out and something scared her? Some cats are naturally much more wary in their ways. I don't suppose you'll ever really know the reason.

All I can suggest is to make sure she is not suffering from anything painful and hidden, but you may already have done that as you mention the vet. Then make sure that she feels safe in her own place away from your other cat and dog. Hopefully she will change with age.

My Smudge was always a bit stand-offish. She adopted us and although she never bit nor scratched in anger and we always said she didn't have a mean bone in her, she was never a cuddly cat and only wanted to be stroked when she wanted. She hated to be picked up.

It's good that she comes when you call biscuits - she associates your voice with something nice. So please don't give up on her.

We have two cat brothers and one has always been more nervous than his brother. Tom is bold and quite laid back.
Jerry however is the biggest cat but scared of his own shadow. He's scared when i unload the washer, scared when my son is walking about.
I think sometimes some cats have a nervous disposition just like people.
Forum members have suggested bachs rescue remedy dabbed behind his ears, perhaps this may help Cass.
She's a beautiful girl by the way.

Good idea about the Bachs, Shelley, and also maybe try Feliway?

Keep persevering with her... don't let her just have cuddles when she wants! Sounds harsh but when she comes to you for cuddles, let her snuggle for a bit then find a reason to get up & put her down, walk off & when you come back if she gets back up well & good. Also if you pick her up and she freaks out DO NOT put her down unless she stops freaking out and when she does put her down gently don't drop her or allow her to jump! Good luck!!! It takes time tho!! But we get 'ferals' in all the time and we rehome them fine.... check out pigeon on our website www.castawaysrescue.com - we couldn't even pick her up at first but as you can see shes snuggles wellnow on a lap!!

Lucky still runs away from people and hides either under the kitchen units or behind the settee. Smokey who was deffinetley feral has come on leaps and bounds. He comes anything to do with food but will sit on my knee. He loves me stroking his back and his tail goes straight in the air. He purrs for england but only for me and can now pick him up and put him on my knee. I do think its her not anything you have done. I would love to do more for ferals in my area as well. PS i do like you cat.
