I nearly put this is Cat-related chat, thinking about Dawn's beautiful Moosey!

Oliver Postgate's son has stopped the proposed remake of Bagpuss.

See Telegraph article. It is a shame but I kind of get what he means. I do think CGI would ruin what Bagpuss was and turn it in to just run of the mill. It was just so old fashioned and to me that was a lot of the appeal. Just my opinion.

I agree - I wonder if the "handmade" methods of doing animation will ever make a come-back. I suppose there is Wallace and Gromit which IMO does still have that charm - but it's all governed by $ nowadays.

I doubt the majority of kids today wouldn't appreciate the old methods so to speak.

Goodness I sound like my mum now!!!!!!

But but but but, I have a REAL Bagpuss they could use!! I so loved him when I was growing up, and Professor Yaffle and the mice in the clock.

Bagpuss was great, the kids loved it when they were little, especially the one where they made chocolate biscuits out of breadcrumbs and butterbeans! Glad they're not going to remake it! It ain't broke, don't fix it!

I love wearing my Bagpuss badge that I bought when the National Asthma Campaign had a fund raiser a couple of years ago. He looks great on a particularly horrid puce coloured jumper, which surprisingly looks OK on!!! NO - you can't have a photo!
