My oldest boy Broxi got out in the middle of the night. The front door obviously hadn't been closed properly, and he has managed to open it and get out  . OH discovered this at 2.30 in the morning when he got upto go to the loo. So we were out trawling the streets and checking gardens until 3.30. Tried to get some sleep and have been out again since first light but no sign of him. he has always been an indoor cat, and has never been allowed out. Would he have the sense to come home? i'm so scared of going round the corner and seeing him lying there, he obv has no road sense. Prayers and good wishes needed please.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that Alex :( I would like to think that he has gone into hiding somewhere, being that he's an indoor cat.

I hope he returns this morning as he will obviously be wanting his breakfast. Have another search round the area today and check with your neighbours.

I realise you may already know what to do when cats are lost but often when it's your own, your mind can go a blank. Here's Smudgley link to good advice again just incase you need it......

Keeping my fingers crossed for Broxi's safe return and sending ((((hugs))) to you....x

Another thing that might be helpful is put a litter box with his scent on it outside on the porch. That may lead him home faster if he got disoriented.
Good thoughts coming your way..

Alex, sending come-home wishes out to Broxi. With him being indoor-only, you must be so very worried. Hugs to you all . . . and fingers crossed.

Thanks all. Still no sign of him. been out in the car so many times, walked up and down the street shaking his food dish, nothing!! The worst bit was having to phone up our lost and found co-cordinator and put him on the list, that's when I lost it :( The weather is starting to turn nasty here, adn I'm feeling sick at the thought of him being out in it. I want my baby back!!

I wish I were closer, I'd be out there with you looking. Have you tried close by? Chances are he was spooked and just (hopefully) hid somewhere really near to home. Also, if you can go on foot rather than the car . . . he will hear your voice that way.

It's getting dark now and no sign of him :( The girls both burst into tears when they came home and there was no Broxi to meet them at the door. Where is he????

Oh Alex, I'm so sorry; you must be out of your mind with worry. That's a good suggestion about going on foot and calling, also the litter box. I hope he's hiding nearby and will find his way home very soon (((hugs))) Prayers coming.

we've walked, driven, called, shook food dishes, put food out, litter etc. Put up posters, informed local vets, put him on the CP lost list, don't think there is anything we haven't done. it's teeming down with rain now, the girls keep crying, I'm close to losing it. I just want him home!! Now I know I could never have outdoor cats, I'm an absolute wreck.

Don't despair; a friends indoor cat managed to slip out and was missing for two days... they finally found her just down the block hiding under a front porch; she finally responded to their calls. Is Broxi microchipped?

Still no sign. Off to bed now to try and get some sleep. Not sure how successful that will be!!! If he's not home by midday, then we're going to do a leaflet drop up and down the street and the neighbouring ones. Will let you know asap if there is any news. thanks all for your good wishes xx

Another day, another search. The black cloud hanging over this house is horrible, no one can rouse themselves to smile. None of us slept well last night. the food we left outside the front door has gone, but obv we don't know whether that was him or not. So we've put more out just incase. Going to print off leaflets in a little bit. Please come home Broxi xxxx

So sorry there's no sign of Broxi this morning.

Stay positive, Alex, remember how Chester turned up for DM after several weeks missing? There's always hope.

I think the leaflet drop is a very good idea. I expect someone has taken him in, the weather being what it is. I have my fingers and toes crossed that he's safe and warm and dry.

Is there any news of Broxi, Alex? I do feel for you, I now have indoor only cats through not wanting the stress and upset. I have one who escapes out at every chance tho, Felix, he jumps out the lower window s if they are open and we have panicked when we find him missing. He has always been hiding in the garden under a bush, even in very bad weather once, and we have to drag him out but its almost defiance with him, I have got out, two finger salute type of thing. He never comes whn we call him or rattle food bowls, etc, sound s silly but its all new to Broxi and maybe he/she is very close but not coming out. Leaflet dropping, putting posters on lamp posts around about and in shop windows and offering a reward are your best options. Thinking of you, Jan x

I can't take much more of this. We did the leaflet drop in the surrounding streets today, and tomorrow we will do some more of the outlying streets. So desperate for the phone to go and someone to say they have him, or to open the door and he's there. The weather is vile, and I'm in bits thinking of him out in it. The girls don't want to go the fireworks tonight, not in the mood, and I'm so worried about them making him go even further if he's still outside.

Oh heard a cat yowling and went to the front door to check (for the hundredth time over the last few days) and he came out from underneath our car and straight into the house! Cue all of us hugging him and crying:-D He seems to be fine, will watch him like a hawk tomorrow to make sure there are no side effects, but he doesn't seem to have been fighting. My baby is home!
