Thanks all.
I'm supposed to be catching a nap right now I'm exhausted but my mind won't stop spinning.
If it weren't for my animals, I think I would have given up on everything right now and just curled up under a rock and died. They are sometimes the only reason I get up. A good reason though, I'll admit.

Hi, all. I'm just back from the hospital.
I'm too overwhelmed to get into nitty gritty details but I wanted to at least let you know that he made it through surgery okay and he's recovering in the cardiac unit. I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

Well, spirits are low today. A doctor suggest he not go back to work at all and go on disability. This is not good as K is a workaholic and lives to work. He is very upset today.
I'm glad I got a good rest last night. Sounds like I'm gonna need it to support him emotionally.

So sorry. Just seems to get worse; I can understand why he's so depressed. It's hard for you to be strong for both; don't know how you've coped so well, but bless you, you know all of us here care and are pulling for you and K. xxx

This is what he had/has in both feet
http://www.podiatrynetwork.com/document_disorders.cfm?id=174
We are trying to assess how much permanent damage was done in the tissues and how much function will come back.
They are having him use a walker to try to move them but he is for the most part using his arms to get himself around.

oh Lord Tink, that certainly doesn't sound pleasant!! K is a very strong man, and if anyone can overcome all these problems he can. Continually in my thoughts and prayers xxx

Yes, I've head of this . . . I believe it's often suffered by diabetics who get increasingly poor blood circulation. Poor K - life seems to be throwing much crap at him at the moment.

Do you think some of it is exacerbated by his reluctance to rest and allow his body to recuperate properly? I know someone who's recently had an aortic valve replacement and he was on completel bed-rest for 8 weeks!

As Alex says, he's a strong man who has come through a lot I'm sure he'll fight his way through this also.

Sorry to hear that you and K are having to go through all this anguish, Tink. If our good wishes, sent by the bucketload, could only have the power to fix things for you both! You have had so much ill-fortune lately and I am hugely impressed by the stamina and grit that you have shown during all this.

Hoping that K makes steady improvement but he needs to be realistic and not try to rush his recovery. Thinking of you both and sending virtual hugs,

I can't put it any better than the above comments. Especially the bit that he's got to rest and let his body heal; that's going to be so hard for a strong, active work-oriented man. Lots of hugs and prayers, Tink.

He's home! :-)
Bad thing is his work refuses to let him come back to light duty..they won't let him work at all till he can do what he used to do..which was heavy physical labor. It could take a long while for that and we honestly can't afford it.
And, no, the clots happened by chance. He's been on light duty which means sitting at a desk watching security cameras. It was all by chance. Good thing is the doc said it could have easily gone to his brain killing him instantly so this was the better option.

Excellent that he's home, seems early after surgery, but they do rush you out very soon these days. Bad about work. Disability SS payments maybe???

Tink
13-09-2009, 03:09 AM
Last time I checked, SS only qualified you if you'd be out for at least a year. This is more like a couple of months.
*Sigh..*

Tink, what can I say. You both do not deserve all this. My very best wishes are with both of you and I do hope things improve for K and he recovers well. I can only reiterate what has been said above. Big hugs to both of you/

Tink, what about Workmen's Compensation? Would that apply in this case .... ?

Tink
15-09-2009, 01:05 AM
Hmm I don't know because it all started at home after he lifted a bucket of water. He had blinding pain in his legs and collapsed and vomited. It was on his day off so I don't think so...
I'm trying out this blind faith thing. It's kind of helping :-)

Is there a HR department or person at his workplace? Maybe they might be able to offer some suggestions for help while K can't work ...... just an idea ....

Tink
15-09-2009, 04:35 AM
Yep, that sounds good.
His plan is to get a doctors note releasing him and get them to at least take him on light duty again. Even if he gets paid less. I think a note would make them feel better because it'd release them from liability if something happens again.
We're also considering some kind of desk job.
And lastly, maybe pulling some money out of his 401K which he'd hate to do but might be necessary so we don't lose the house.

Continued good wishes to K on his recovery Tink. It must be difficult to focus on getting better when he knows he need to be out there earning to keep a roof over the family's head.
