which works better?????

any thoughts on which works better,introducing a male cat to an already static(i know thats not the right word:roll:)female cat

or introducing a female to a male cat ?

I've had very limited experience with this, Niki. I successfully introduced a female kitten to an adult male, and a male kitten to two adult females. Both went very well. I have never introduced adults of opposite sex; introducing an adult female to another adult female did NOT go well at all. Never became friends, just tolerated one another.

I dont have much experience in this either but my personal experiences have been....
male to male, no problems. young female to old male, no problem. male to female, problems.

just wondered as if i were to do it again.cass is now 16 mnths and STILL likes to jump on toby,thought it mighta stopped by now,guess not !!!!!!!

i dont think toby got much lessons from his mum,he isnt very paternal,hopefull if i do do it again,cass wont of picked up on his behaviour,and will be ok with a male cat.

then again mibbee not,toby is 15,he could live another 5 yrs,by then cass will be about 6,im not saying it was a bad moving getting her,i did wot i thought was best at the time,but still!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most male cats aren't especially paternal at all; not their job! But you do hear of the occasional male who is a very caring father .....

At Toby's age, I imagine he's probably not too playful.

not for a few yrs yet elaine,think 2 cats an a dog is enough for now lol.mibbee in a few yrs time,who knows how long toby has,toby was 14 when i got cass and he was 11 when i got the dog
