Shop to plan or plan to shop

Shop first then plan your meals around that?
Or do you make a list and plan your meals first then shop according to the list.

Actually a bit of both here Kazz - depending on whether there's a special occasion that needs planning for, like Christmas etc.

Depends here too! :) Sometimes we plan our meals & shop accordingly. Sometimes we just go to the store & buy whatever looks good. What about you Kazz? What do you do?

I have a mental repertoire of meals I cook so tend to shop to accommodate these. I don't work to a menu but know more or less what I'm likely to use and in what combination.

Strictly a list person: make out the week's menu and then shop accordingly. I'm not an impulse buyer; merchants hate people like me!
