This is supposed to be squirrel proof. When he gets on it the weight makes the cylinder sink down so the food ports are closed. That's the theory ...we shall see! :-D

I'll be very interested to hear whether it works Eileen! Squirrels, whilst undoubtedly sons and daughters of Satan, are persistent and tenacious!

I hope it is squirrel proof Eileen - I suppose you will be on squirrel watch for the next few days to see if it works!

I don't have high hopes, Mags! They are so cunning; however the birds might get t enjoy their seed in peace for a while until they manage to figure it out. The birds were a bit wary of the new one at first, but are happily eating away now!

I like the look of that :) Here's hoping it works for you Eileen.

Thanks, Alex! I had to get a new one as the squirrel had gnawed thru the cover on the old one and the rain would get in on the seed.

I bought some nice heavy gauge galvanised steel nut feeders last year - the previous one had lasted ages, but the squirrel has already gnawed through the bottom and I thought the nuts had vanished quickly - they'd fallen through the bottom! Now I'm looking out for a squirrel with teeth like Jaws from James Bond! (We do have a squirrel with no ears btw - bitten off in a fight I think - poor thing is a real bruiser.)
