This is really a question - I noticed that smokytopaz's Rajah has black "stockings" on the rear of his hind legs. My Kizzy has the same. Can anyone enlighten me as to where genetically these come from? Does Kizzy have Bengal in her ancestry somewhere, or does it come from somewhere else???

Angie, as I recall Sultan, my Aby had those too, as well as the black "racing stripe" on his back. I have no idea where they come from........am not exactly sure what search terms to use; might do a Google later when it's slow on here.

I had laid a little bet with myself that someone might come up with a word beginning with "C" or even "D" ..........

Well, stockings, but where do the C and D come in ...I'm still being dense this morning!

Cancan dancers wear fishnets, maybe old time Dancehall girls .....???

Everyone wears sheers........

Oh wait a minute, are you thinking of the old time hose that had a black line down the back???

The "C" has been associated with stockings since 1935, the "D" is more often associated with haute couture!

Can't believe this was so obscure! We are talking stockings, right? "C" is for Charnos and "D" is for Dior!!! I sort of thought that my question "or does it come from somewhere else" would invite the reply - "Charnos" or "Dior" - as they are SO ELEGANT!

Sorry if I've confused you folks!

Well, it gave me something to puzzle about waiting for the bus...must confess I never heard of Charnos!
