My son, Adam, has just finished a double degree at Cardiff university in English Literature and music. We found out yesterday that he got a 2:1!!! :D He is delighted and we are very proud, he has worked so hard and doing a joint honours course is not easy. With that grade he can now apply to do a Post Grad in music performance and research. He plays the french horn and would eventually like to play professionally in an orchestra. The only downside for us is that he is applying to universities in Australia, a fantastic opportunity for him, but we will miss him so much. My OH is Australian, and Adam has dual nationality, hence his choice.

Seriously well done to Adam; that's a great grade to achieve!! But I guess with him potentially being so far away it's a bit of a bittersweet thing for you as his Mum.

Hard to accept, but I think the benefit of seeing the world and following his dreams must come above all else . . .

I feel quite emotional at the thought of him leaving, but it is soemthing he has wanted for so long Yola, and so yes, he must follow his dream. I just hope he doesn't decide to stay there.....

Thanks for all your lovely replies, yes I am a proud mum! :D

I was so delighted as Bryn Terfel (opera singer) one of my favourite singers was there to receive an honourary fellowship

Adam is a very handsome young man with that look of determination about him; I'm sure he'll succeed at whatever he turns his hand too.

Bryn Terfel . . .yes, I like his work too. He was part of an event I did with Deutsche Grammophon when at B&O and his singing is just sublime.

Congratulations once again - you must all be very proud.
