I'm so excited!! XD Haha, hello everyone, sorry for not posting for so long!

I spoke to a friend of mine earlier today and her friend's neighbour had a few litters of kittens that needed rehoming, and so they became the responsibility of my friend's friend. I'm not sure what the back story is to be honest, minus the mention of a feral cat problem in the area.

So there are 9 kittens in need of homes, but 3 have been taken, leaving 6. 5 males and 1 female.

I discussed it with my parents and we have agreed to take on 2 of the kittens. ^_^ The kitten that is going to my parents will not be coming here for a while yet as he is too young and being hand-fed.

Most of the kittens do not have a Mother (possibly none of them do, not sure) and so have been mainly hand-reared. I'm not entirely sure how old my kitten shall be, I think about six weeks old, and are going to us as we have experience with hand-rearing kittens and it'll make life a lot easier for the woman currently caring for them.

The kitten that I am getting is a tabby and white tomcat and I shall be picking him up from my friend (as the friend of a friend is taking my kitten and my friend's kitten to her then) on thursday.

Also, my fiance shall be there with me, but he is totally unaware of this. XD It is a total surprise that my entire family are keeping from him, and he is going to be giddy like a child when he finds out.

There were two bi-colour tabby toms, both healthy but the kitten I am getting has been described by everyone as "ugly." XD Because he has a squished face apparently! So no doubt my heart will break for him as soon as I see him.

Both kittens will be receiving constant care and attention from me, like my cat Honey did when I got him as a kitten. I do not work so this is perfect for me, especially as I suffer with depression and pet care gives me such joy and being occupied is miraculous for my mental health.

Soooooooo excited!! Expect lots of photos! :D

Lovely! My darling Darcy was called 'ugly persian' by a CP colleague . . . that was it, I HAD to have him!

I hope your little ugly turns out to be an equal character (they usually do)!!

Also, I hope the Mum-cat will be spayed now . . . (do what you can)!!

I don't know if there are any Mum-cats, Yola! I know that most of the kittens don't have a Mum. :(

There will be loooots of photos. ^_^

I can't wait to see him.

My fiance guessed what the secret was - so the cat is out of the bag, so to speak. He is incredibly excited! And we are calling the kitten 'Lemon.' (To go with Honey.)

My fiance's Mum thinks that Lemon is a silly name, yet suggested 'Bread.'

IMO Lemon is a great name for him on two fronts... it goes well with Honey... and the connotation behind the name Lemon suggests that there is something not quite right about him.... ie... his cute little squished face... perfect choice for a very lucky cat

Hehe, you're right! First time ever my fiance has been good at naming something.

Not long to go now!

We won't be getting Lemon today as planned as he has some sniffles, so his current carer doesn't want to travel with him.

So, we'll be getting him at the same time as the other kitten, in 2-3 weeks. Absolutely no idea when yet.

Very sad, but oh well.

Awwww that is such a shame that he has got the sniffles so won`t be arriving today:( , I do hope his sniffles get better soon.

I don't even know if we're getting them now. My friend hasn't gotten the carer's contact details for me, and the carer doesn't seemed to have said anything at all to my friend about coming down here to drop the kittens off.

I've been totally messed about with no reason given at all, so I'm just assuming now that I won't be getting them. :(

Sorry to hear that; what an unfortunate mess up. I hope maybe you can get it sorted .....

Finally got in touch with the woman!

She's getting the kittens wormed tomorrow or in the next few days as a precaution, and then I'll be getting them! So hopefully some time this week or next week.

Also, I got photos of Lemon! :'D

They're not too good, but they're good enough for me~ He has grown into his squishy face so no longer looks "ugly," and has brilliantly big bat ears.

I knooow! He's so cute!

He has the same lovely facial markings as my old cat Tiger (RIP), but his back looks more marbled.

He has the sweetest face, and also looks like he has a little bit of a squint.

What a cutie! Big kitten ears usually means big cat! Are you sure there isn't some fennec in his background? :-D

Can't wait for more pics when Lemon comes home!

Darky

Darky
18-07-2009, 09:43 AM
I've received no photos of the other kitten, and my parents/brother still haven't come up with a name for him. XD His current name is Brandy, and there shall be plenty of photos of him too on thursday.

Ooh, 'valerian' you say? I must look into this!

Here's a link to valerian. If your cat's a non responder to catnip, he/she will probably ignore valerian also. Leia did.
