New arrivals tomorrow.

We have some new animals coming tomorrow- 2 celestial parrotlets.
The owner has to give them up due to health issues and although being advertised,there has been no interest and they were possibly going to be PTS.
So we are collecting them tomorrow, we're a bit nervous as we have no experience in parrot type birds but we will learn.
Thanksto Elaine, we do have some advice and a contact to help if we are stuck.
Will post some piccies when they arrive, from what I've seen they are pretty little things.

we don't have the greys yet, I suspect the owner is struggling to hand them over, understandably.
I am also concerned about the grey who is most likely to come, in case the stress triggers of a reaction.
It seems to me that PBFD is very similar to FIV and at the end of the day we are setting ourselves up for some heart break, but we will do our best to give him as good a life as possible.
We have a few ideas about a flight for the parrotlets and the greys ( depending on the situation) but have to wait and see who eventually comes to stay.
At that point we will have to close our doors, there is likely to be a 15 year old cat with hyerthyroidism coming in and a group of 3 rabbits ( one of which has 3 legs), but after that due to facilities, time and money we will have to close our doors.:(

I dont know Farthing, from what Nadia was saying and from what I have read PBFD can spread through the inhilation of bird dust and dried fecal matter, if the others are clear and just one is infected the question is for how long?
Anyway I am sure you are reading up as much as you possibly can about it and will take what precautions are necessary, chances are they all may have it, poor things.
It's not similar to FIV in the respect that the disease can live in the enviroment for hours where as FIV cannt.
I can only really advise that you try to boost their imune systems and give them loads of fresh food as I said in my pm.

Well, here are the celestial parrotlets, we picked them up on saturday pm.
They didn't have names so we have called them Yogi and Zelda.
Yogi, the male, he has been plucked by his wife!

The celestials are not tame at all, but are great to listen to and lovely to look at. I hope once they get into a flight they will be happy and healthy and nothing goes wrong.:shock:
Still not really sure what is happening with the parrot/s. I can't quite make out if the lady is thinking about us having them or not, so we feel a bit up in the air. Been doing lots of reading about these birds, so feel a bit less anxious, just worried the stress alone could cause the disease to break out, but if he is going to be PTS anyway, at least he has been given a chance. They are just such complex birds.
