I have never really seen large quantities of bees up close before so this was quite an amazing sight! OH tells me that they won't go back to their hive (some 100 metres away) as they have followed an alternative queen and so don't really have a home to go to now.

I hope for the moment they're OK until they can somehow find a new place to lay their many hats :D

OMG that is a strange sight. I hope they either find a new home or go back to their old one soon.

Do you have a local beekeeping group Yola? They will come and collect the swarm and give it a new hive to live in.

OMG me too Kel

I can't even cope with one Erin I think I might actually pass out.

I start panicking when I hear the buzzing and Myles even tells me to behave and just stand still and it won't hurt me, how bad is that? Being told by a 6 year old!

That is amazing - I've never seen a swarm before.

What happened to them? Do you know?

I can appreciate that some folks are scared by bees - but just think where we'd all be without them. I know some bees are naturally aggressive, but generally not the ones we have in this country luckily. I have never been stung by a bee - wasps, now that's quite a different matter!!!

That's true; where would we be without bees to pollenate our crops? I hope the beekeepers do manage to collect that swarm; bees are vanishing at an alarming rate!

Well they weren't there today so I suspect their 'owner' lured them back by coaxing the queen back into the hive.

It was a wonderful sight; but I am glad they are back where they belong :D

Same here, You'll never see me move so fast when I hear a buzzing noise lol.
I dont mind bumble bees coz they are friendly, but wasps or any other thing like that, nope.
I was stung by a wasp when I was younger, I had my arms up on the washing line and when I put them down it stung me in my arm pit!

Luckily I've not had a bad experience with bees. Was stung several times by a couple of wasps which fell down a baggy teeshirt back in the 80s but it hasn't left me with any fear of them; just a healthy respect for their stingers.

My daft old Balie tried to eat a bee once when he was little and I had to remove a stinger from his lip with a pair of tweezers. No harm done thankfully!

That was an excellent picture Yola. Wonder where they went? I think the going rate is about £10 for a swarm now - but you need to know who to contact to come and collect them.

WOW Yola that pick is amazing, I do hope they found some where safe to go as they are on a decline I believe.
