Seeing Angie's lovely iris inspired me to post some of mine that I put in last Autumn:

Wow! I knew you were an Iris fan, Eileen - but that's a wonderful collection. They've done very well. I particularly like Jump Start - a lovely dark colour.

I could do with some hints about how to care for mine!

For some reason, Devil May Care got posted twice (have since deleted) and Dawn Cascade didn't appear: here it is:

Angie, I was really surprised at how little info I could find on line re cultivation; started with the BIS (British Iris Society as I thought it would be more appropriate for your climate); not much, more on the AIS. Basically, it boils down to at least 6 hours of sun, good drainage and clean cultivation. This may be helpful\:

Thanks for that Eileen. I have to say that I am glad you found info hard to find - I have too and just wondered whether you with your experience with Iris growing had some tips. I was intrigued about putting an aspirin under the rhizome - wonder what that does??? Some people seem to cut the leaves into a fan shape - presumably in the autumn so the plant doesn't rock in winter gales etc. but I can't find anything about how or why. It's very odd. I could find practical info on every other plant, but as you say, info on Irises is limited!

They are all lovely.
I've posted my thoughts about the attraction of Irises in angies thread.
Thanks for posting DM

Edit: Lots of iris in the winner at the Chelsea Flower Show (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8057052.stm)
Read the story and then click More Pictures to see lovely things (and bloody James May)

Wow - these are gorgeous. Love the first one tho'.

I planted some last year and notice they've not appeared. Another too cold casualty.

Wow DM - You have quite the array of colors there! Beautiful!
I love when you post photos of your flowers. You are bringing color onto Catsey :-D
