Fell in love with this at the GC last week. Will be the main tree in the 'secret garden'

It is Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum'. The young foliage is salmon pink in the spring, gradually turning green in summer.

They are beautiful, my neighbour has a big one in her garden...

The label said up to 8m spread. I hope it does well here as I'd love to see it get even half of that.

That's stunning, CM. never saw one that color before. I wonder what it turns in the Autumn? Fingers crossed it'll thrive in your windy area!

I am a bit worried about the wind, the leaf is quite delicate, but the label says fully hardy so here's hoping.:D

I find with my maples that it's when the young leaves are emerging is when they are at their most vulnerable. That's a lovely young tree - you could always try putting up some sort of windbreak behind it?
