These would have been better if the sun had been shining; figured I'd better take them anyway because it will be raining most of the week and the bloom will be past peak. They're quite old; were here when I bought the house.

Wow........................
September 1965, Kazz.
I was 6 months old
What beautiful, mature shrubs they are, You must take immense pleasure just walking around them and sharing space with them.
Reminds me of Langley Park near where I live as child (some random pictures here http://www.friendsoflangleypark.co.uk/photos_page.htm) which is stuffed full of rhododendrons and azaleas . . . inspired my Mum to plant our garden full of them too - some of which thrive until this day :D

Lol, Yola, I have a Christmas cactus that's older than you also!!
Lovely pics, thanks for that link. Am I the only one who thinks of Manderley when rhododendrons are mentioned?

Those Azaleas are simply stunning DM, their colours are lovely, my husband is laying a circular seated patio area up at the top of our garden and I am wanting to put some up there for a lovely spring blast of colour, I hope that ours will look as spectacular as yours in a few years time:D

Your azaleas are gorgeous Eileen - lovely mature specimens. This (http://www.exbury.co.uk/website/the_gardens.aspx) is my favourite place for seeing azaleas and rhodies.
In case the linking doesn't work! http://www.exbury.co.uk/website/the_gardens.aspx
It actually seems to have worked this time!

Lovely azaleas - they put on such a show don't they?
Makes my poor little babies look a bit miserable. But we are on chalk+++, so they have to do as they can do in a large planter filled with ericaceous compost.

We are on flint, so they'd probably do well. My trouble would be choosing which colour - they are all so stunning!
