I found a lump on Baby Bear. I looked at the anatomy charts online and it feels like it is in the spleen area. My first thought is enlarged spleen but I could be wrong. I've only been a ferrent for a year and some change so I really don't have enough experience. The only serious thing I've gone through to date is Baby Bear almost dying from severe anaphylactic shock. Other than that I've had normal kids, so this is new for me.
I called his vet (who is FANTASTIC and I have a lot of faith in) and the soonest I could get him in is Saturday, May 9th. Since it doesn't seem like an emergency and he is acting fine otherwise I am okay with that and willing to wait for her expertise.
The only thing I've noticed is some days he is not so much lethargic, I'd call it lazy. But I figured it might just be because he's growing up and not a kit anymore (he's only a year and a half). He does still play just not like he did when he was a kit which could be perfectly normal.
To be honest with you though, I've always had this gut feeling about him that if anyone is going to get anything serious it will be him. I can't explain why, it's just this feeling I get. He's always been a little "different" to me but then again he was my first ferret and maybe that's why.
I am rambling, just thinking out loud. Guess I won't know anything for sure till the vet. Even if she thinks it's nothing I'm going to get his blood workup done no matter what...just for peace of mind about that gut feeling I have.
I'm preparing myself for all kinds of things though...guess we'll just wait and see.
Thanks for listening.
