We were only saying a few days ago how quiet it was.

We have taken in a pregnant cat this week.

We have dealt with a found  10 day old kitten. (It's been fostered onto another mother cat)

We have had a call about 15 adults plus lots of kittens / pregnant cats, all in the same house, none neutered. :(

Plus lots of other calls this week for adult cats needing homes, most of which have been left behind when the owners have moved out.

How can anyone leave their pet behind - whether they've gone on holiday or moved away?????

Some people, not all, but some, make me want to be something other than human and howl in anguish.

Poor little loves.

I wonder if Kizzy would like a little friend?

She said she would. ;)

I have 2 cats in, that were left behind when some people moved & the neighbour has been feeding them, she said she didn't even know they were moving out, they just went and left the 2 cats. One is a beautiful B&W long haired neutered female. The other is her 8 mth old pregnant daughter, who is very timid.

We have been really quiet too, we just have a feral litter in and 2 pregnant cats. Plus a few adults. I will call tomorrow to find out more about the 15-cats-plus-kittens-house but it sounds like a nightmare senario.

I cannot understand people who would just abandon their cat....heartbreaking! Poor things.

Kizzy sounds like such a sweet natured cat, maybe she might like a companion, Angie .....

I'd quite like a little B&W boy or a ginger-nut, but either would have to be short haired.

I always intended to get 2 as company for each other and it helps to keep them both fit if they get on well and play together.

No ginger-nuts or B&W males, in fact no males in our branch at all. I'll find out what is amongst the 15 cats.

Sadly, this is happening in all areas of animal rescue. I can't undestand somebody who can just walk away and leave a pet behind.

I have just taken into my other pen a ginger male angie ;) He's gorgeous.

We've also gotten quite busy Smudgley. Three cats (including Wilma) have all given birth since thursday, 10 kittens in total. Plus we have Cheetah and his 'sister' Topaz who were found together hanging around a local fast food restaurant. As I say, they are now in my other pen. Our vets don't have much room for any to come in, and all the fosterers have a number each! Why does it always explode??

It's sad isn't it?

I will make calls tomorrow to the social worker of the family with all the cats, she is the lady who contacted us on behalf of her clients. But I'm not sure we can help really, we are now full.......... where's kazz :-D

Tell me about you ginger boy, Alex .................. what's his story?

I think it's only fair you get one from Alex's branch too, but then we couldn't leave Moli out, so you've have to get one from her branch at a later date as well. :-D

Kizzy is really a kind cat I could see her settled with a Tom....I think a kitten.....well under 12 months.

He was reported to us by a McD's, him and Topaz were hanging around there for some time. Probably not related but they get along well. He's absolutely stunning!! I think there may be a bit of siamese or suchlike in there, he has a long slender body and is so affectionate. He's been done, had his bloods etc and had his first vaccs. And I'll get a pic of him in the morning (and Topaz of course lol). I don't know why though, but I can't think of him as Cheetah (the name the vets gave him), and I've been calling him William:lol:

Alex - Can I pop and see your new pens and your lovely cats one day when I'm in the area? I drive passed your house sometimes and often think about popping in. I will be visiting Donna weekly soon.:)

I was thinking just the same. I don't want Kizzy to be unsettled by a new arrival of course and I thought a youngster would be just the thing.

getting a little friend for Kizzy sounds like a plan Angie..given how well she has settled in with you she would probably cope quite well with a new addition

I just figured a kitten would not bother her as much, we don't want to undo all the good work......... Did your local CP branch not get back in touch Angie?

I did get a phone call Kazz, before I went to pick Kizzy up. They said that they had no cats and I was too early! According to one of the vet nurses at the surgery, they are a funny bunch with almost anti-rehoming policies!

Oh how sad about all those cats left. My sister and I just volunteered for my local cpl, going to help out with the cats and anything else I can do as I don't have space here away from my own to foster any at the moment, I can't wait though.

Hope you find a nice new pal for Kizzy soon Angie, or a puppy pal, you are welcome to Star at the minute, she's been busying herself by 'helping' in the garden in this nice weather the little witch!

Alex, how old would you estimate William (Cheetah) is? Might be a good friend for Kizzy if he's as affectionate as you say ......

we think he's about 2 :) Will post a pic shortly (have to be quick though, some home visits being done this week lol)

I wonder if 2 would be a bit old for Kizzy to cope with ........ I was thinking, like Kazz, of a youngster. But these things rely really on the individual cats I think.

You're right about that, I think. Misty was a kitten when she came and Sultan accepted her quickly after a bit of hissing, spitting and posturing. Patches was an adult when she came and she and Misty only tolerated one another; Dandy was a kitten and both the girls accepted him at once, especially Misty who became his adopted mom. And Leia also was a kitten, Dandy and Patches, adults at the time, took to her very well. But every case is different ......

I'd go for a younger one personally. Much easier to introduce. A male about 4-8mths would be an ideal friend for her I think.

...... any particular reason for an "Arthur"? Or just the Camelot connection?
