Thought you might like to see the maternity ward. Also doubles up as A&E, labour ward and nursery!!

I thought I had three - where did the other two come from?

The blackface usually have 1 or 2. Triplets are quite unusual.

The ones with the white faces usually have 2 - 4 but 3 is quite common.

The new lambs are out in the fields at home. It's really spring when the hedges green up and the fields turn white with sheep and lambs. I love the little gangs they form and then have jumping or butting contests ... and then mother calls them for tea and they dash off to the milk bar, little tails going 10 to the dozen. It seems mean the way they butt their mums though - as if mum wouldn't supply their milk  .

Most of ours are out. We keep in triplets in the hope we can adopt one onto a single.

I usually take the camera out to the field on a sunny day and spend a few hours taking photos and just watching them play chases and having skipping comps!

Just come back after checking a ewe who was scanned as having triplets to find she's had quads!!!!

Good grief!! Can she suckle that many? Do ewes let other lambs suckle from them? Or will you have to bottle-feed?

She is in good condition so would be able to raise them if she was given extra feeding. We will probably try and twin a couple of them. We aim to have the mum's raising two, but it doesn't always work out that way.

Very few ewes will let other lambs suckle. Cattle are a bit more willing.

We'll see how they are in the morning and then decide what to do.
