That is stuning - what a beautiful colour. I've never seen a yellow before.

I'd never even heard of them, much less seen one! Had to Google. There are six young ones planted outside the local middle school (building in background). So far all the garden sites I've checked are "sold out" !!!

How glorious!

We have to try and transplant a little Stella magnolia in a few weeks - if it does not survive the transplant, I might have to get a replacement yellow one!!!

Good luck finding one, I can't, short supply here, apparently. :(

Thanks for that link, very interesting. What lovely varieties; I don't know what the one I photographed is, but like it very much.

It looks a nice shade of yellow - not too strong, quite buttery. Is there not a gardener or groundsman at the school that would know?

You know, I hadn't thought of that; I assume there must be someone who sees to the watering, mowing, etc. but haven't a clue who to contact. Actually now that I think about it I've never seen anyone working on the grounds ....and as it's across the street from the Safeway I'm by there frequently. Will keep an eye out in the future.

Incidentally, I'm having slightly felonious thoughts...learned on Google that you can start from a cutting....and there are six trees ....and surely one little cutting...???

I have got the article that was mentioned in Mags' RHS link. I'll look it out and scan and email to you Eileen if you'd like, seeing it was an American article it may give you some info and further links - I'll take a look.

(Sorry, the link was CM's not Mags'! Beg pardon)

If it wouldn't be a bother I'd appreciate that! I'm sure there are sites that aren't necessarily on Google. I never use Yahoo or Ask Jeeves.

CM, you are my kind of thinker! :-D (Besides, it's probably only a little bitty misdemeanor, not a big bad felony.......)
