I hadn't really thought about the ecological implications of using bamboo canes in the garden until this month's issue of RHS magazine, The Garden, so just thought I'd post notice of this event.
"Gardeners who normally reach for the nearest bamboo cane to tie up beans and sweet peas can find out how to use home-grown beanpoles instead, at a series of events for National Beanpole Week (25 April - 3 May).
Hazel beanpoles and pea sticks will be on sale at events throughout the country at which coppicers will also demonstrate traditional woodland crafts."
