I've been saving Leia's fur for the birds since mid-December, here's the pile of it:;

And here it is draped over the azaleas:

Wow I think the birds will think it`s their birthday with that big pile of fur;) , funny thing is Leia dosen`t look like the sort of cat to loose that much fur, you would expect that much to come of a longhaired cat.
Mind you in saying that Maxi & Maisy even when I brush them there is not a lot of fur comes off them.

You could spin it and knit yourself a sweater too, you sure Leia is not bald????

That is a lot of hair!

I put some of the cat's grooming produce out on the bushes last week but the puppy ate it.

Have now put it in an empty seed feeder as usual, just the bigger birds don't really get any then!

Oh and on that note, had a bloomin' MAGPIE knock the lid of the compost bin about 5 times now, probably after the horrible creepies inside, but he knows they are there now I have had to put a brick on top!

All you guys get nice birds, my regulars consist of a couple great and blue tits, some blackbirds, a thrush, an occasional robin and a couple sparrows, and then, a bloomin' overweight wood pigeon who keeps breaking the feeder, a magpie, a jackdaw and 2 collared doves, all of which are clearly too big for the wee feeder and scaring the wee ones away.

Mr naughty magpie!

Awww, that magpie may be naughty but he's cute! Like the pic!

Leia's not bald, thank you; she is a shorthair but a BIG cat and has lots of fur. :-D Just think, all of that was not swallowed for fur balls or shed on the furniture. She loves her ritual nightly grooming.

Glad she enjoys grooming! :-D Dykan doesn't mind it either, but the problem we have with him is he always wants to play with the comb or brush

Your neighbours must love you. "here comes the crazy cat lady putting more hair on the bush" ;-) just kidding
I honestly think its a good idea :-P
Some happy bird is going to have one hell of a comfy nest.

WOW! The chicks that hatch out in your area must know how privileged they are - Princess Fur-lined nests! Bet they "crow" about it to their less fortunate neighbours :-D

That fur looks so soft and lovely! And there is quite a handful there eh? Good job for keeping on top of it. Darcy and Minsky, despite being litter-mates, have different coats. Darcy's is short and very 'light'; he rarely shades and if I groom him not much comes off at all. Minsky, however, is every so slightly longer (not 'very short' like Darcy's) and it is so dense! Both of them love their grooming too.

Lots of cosy birds in your area soon I'm sure!

Lol, we had a windy night, and most of the fur has blown away! There's some left though, and some in my neighbor's yard; luckily he's a good guy and won't mind. The best laid plans, eh? I tried. :-D

If it's grey and very soft, that's hers! Hope your birds enjoy it! :-D

   I have giggled through this thread, thanx for a much needed spot of laughter guys.

You must groom her religously Eileen, she must be the silkiest kitty on the block. Shame most of it blew away.

Random, your post made me giggle too. I have to say i dont have pretty birds in my garden either, mostly seagulls, pidgeons and some sparrows. The seagulls that land in my garden though, dont stop long as Eva usually grabs them by their tail feathers:lol:

Every night before bedtime! She knows the routine, I call "Leia, brush time" and she goes to her spot and flops down for the session; it probably helps that that's just before "midnight snack" time also ......:-D

Eva is very bold to tackle a seagull, they're BIG birds!
