I've just seen some amazing looking kittens from the website icanhascheezburgers. I don't know if they're just moggies with amazing markings but they are stunning:

Any ideas anyone?

Also, the 'break news' caption has been photoshpped in. The website icanhascheezburger takes cute cat photos and adds captions. The cats are called lolcats. The caption, firefox dating lolcat, plays off the fact they have very foxlike markings!

I saw them too and I think they are probably photoshopped, most likely the orange bits. If anything ragdoll x?

So do ou think all of those colours have been photoshopped on? That's me being too trusting and gullible again

Well they look ragdoll like to me, but I personally have never seen colours like that so i'd say it's a couple of ragdoll kittens with some photoshopping done, maybe not you being gullible but me being cynical?

I think that I agree with your theory Random on the photos.

Some of the black markings don't look quite right to me (especially around the face). I suspect lolcats are named such because it's a joke (LOL . . . ). I may be wrong though - it has been known ;) :-D ;)

Yes the orange to black blend doesn't sit right on the face.

I don't think they're real at all.
The one at the back even looks like a fox, as well as being foxy coloured.

And lets face it, they are so stunningly foxlike and so strikingly different that if they were real they would be next 'fashion cat' as was the bengal, so how come no-one's heard of these wee fox-cats? ;)

Yep I agree now, it does look like a photoshop job. I was just confused as all the other photos i've seen on icanhascheezburger.com have been real, unphotoshopped photos with amusing captions. I think the 'lolcat' name is just a name given, not because they are fake but because the captions accompanying them are funny. So misleading

Wouldn't it be amazing if there were cats that looked like this? (Naturally, not through genetic modification!) I actually thought they looked a lot like red pandas:

My suspicion is the kittens are naturally black and white and they've photoshopped on the ginger. The black and white markings on the cat at the back, on its wee nose, are quite intricate and would have been hard to do; but the ginger is one blanket colour.

They are cuties, aren't they meep? I think the implication was that Firefox and Lolcat have been er, um .... breeding, don't you? I would say the pictures have been "enhanced"!

On a similar but slightly different tack - did you see this book (http://http://www.whypaintcats.com/)?

[Why do I always get Page Load Error when using the linking thingy? This should work: http://www.whypaintcats.com/ ]

That link is bizarre Angie! I'm not sure how I feel about it. The ink will be cat-friendly. I'm guessing some cats will enjoy it, being the centre of attention and being preened, whereas others would detest it. I personally wouldn't put my two through that!

The red panda is adorable isn't he :) They're very close to extinction though :(
