Thankyou all for your well wishes.
My dad has had a mild heart attack. He will be kept in hospital for the next 4 to 5 days having tests done etc. My sister and I will be taking it in turns to stay over with my mum, I stayed there last night and have had quite a busy day but have spoke to my dad on the phone and will be visiting him tonight. He sounds in fairly good spirits, think he is releived that now the ball is moving to get this all under control as he has been in a alot of pain and discomfort for quite a while now.
My poor mum was just beside herself yesterday as all of this happened around lunch time and my sister and I didnt get back into Aberdeen until 5pm, my mum has no idea how to use a mobile phone and was at the hospital with my dad all day until around 7pm. If I had known, ofcourse i would have gone straight there...
Anyway, here's hoping that everything will get sorted now.

Leesy

I am quite sure that he will get sorted out in no time, as he is in the right place, and he will be back at home soon.
Sending you and your family lots of well wishes Pauline Xxx.

Ah take care Elaine - so glad your dad is going to be OK. Your poor mum must have had one hell of a day. I feel for you chum - my dad had his first heart attack when I was 16.

Thankyou Pauline, I keep telling myself those things.
It's a funny thing, I always just thought of my dad as being as strong as an ox and reasonably fit, it's not until something like this happens that the whole longevity/mortality thing kinda begins to sink in. Maybe thats a sign of just how much I take for granted...

Elaine - it's good to hear from you. Your poor Dad must have been terrified and your Mum too. I hope that with appropriate drugs your Dad's condition can be controlled and he can continue with a normal life.

My Dad - although never very healthy and strong - had a mild (so mild he hardly noticed it) attack and continued for many years after!

Elaine

Good news about your Dad, I hope your Mum, you and your sister feel a little less stressed now he's being well looked after.....

Elaine
09-03-2009, 10:32 PM
We do. Last night was weird, my mum and my sister were, understandably, in bits which left me being the one to crack the odd joke and keep the spirits up. I felt like i was being a little cold or something. This morning I felt a little weepy but still held it together. I think my mum and sister now feel better after seeing him and talking with him.
He will be fine, I feel pretty sure about that, I dont know why but I feel that way. Half the battle is discovering the problem and the other half is dealing with it.

Glad it was only a mild heart attack, he will be carefully monitored now. My dad had a mild heart attack in 1976, he went on for lots more years and died in 1999. Take care Elaine, it does sound as though you are in a bit of shock. ((hugs))

Thankyou every one. No real news on my dad as yet. Have been at the hospital for the last two and a half hours, but my dad is having the endioscope and hasnt yet come back from theatre.
Aberdeen hospital car park is a nightmare. I fell out with one of the parking attendants, 5 of them in all and all standing around doing ****** all while they continue to let cars in and there are no spaces to park in:twisted:
Finally met up with my mum and sister, we went to the hospital cafe, the chap infront had his tea practically thrown at him:shock: . So when it came to our turn I asked for two cups of tea and I'd prefer the tea in the cups and not in the saucers please.

smudgley

O)k good news, my dad has undergone a 3 hour op, he has had 3 stents put in place. The doctor has said that if all goes well, my dad will get home tomorrow evening.
My brother in law called to say that my dad was sat up in bed laughing and joking with them but that this is a bit of wake up call too.
