big day for Pippin the pony.

Today we have put Pippin out for the first time.:shock:
He is in the sandschool just now, looking longingly at the other horses, with the odd run around, back to the corner or having a quick roll. I am soooo stressed,and I'm pretty sure we will have an interesting time catching him, I'm hoping his love for carrots does the trick.
Off now to clean out the birds and keep an eye on him.

Just back in from trying to catch him, he likes carrots but also knows the give a carrot, grab the headcollar trick. After an hour of keeping him moving, I didn't want to give up as once he realises he can get away with not being caught, we're stuffed. I could see he wanted to give in, but didn't know how, so Mike went to the gate and offered him a carrot, and he let Mike catch him. He is so sweaty, although we tried to just keep him walking, I hope he doesn't come down with colic or anything. He is going to be a stiff boy tomorrow and I suspect we will have to go through it all again!

I was thinking about him the other day and wondered how he was coming along.

I used to hav a horse that was v difficult to catch. Used to have a bit of string (8 or 9 ") dangling below headcollar. Sometimes it made it easier as once she felt she was caught she didn't pull back too much.

Maybe easier tomorrow!

Glad he feels well enough to have a charge round.

Would you consider giving him some Kali. Phos. before putting him out?

I did suggest a bit of rope on his headcollar, but Mike didn't like the idea incase it caught.:roll:

What is Kali. Phos. ,I've never heard of it. A horse who won't catch is a pet hate of mine, so I hope he gets the idea soon.
