Is going back to the vet T 4.20...he still will not eat or drink, I have been syringing tiny amouts of warm cat milk down his throat. He is still purring like mad though...

We had a huge tabby & white cat in the garden this morning in a sorry state, gave it some food, and it allowed me to pet it, but then took off, not sure if its mum or dad, will keep feeding it till i can grab it..Certainly looks like the kittens...

He has been to the vets, they have hydrated him with an injection under the skin, given him a steriod and another AB Jab, there is no reason for him not to eat, although tiny, he is perfectly healthy...Got him some milk supplement lso, which will help to build him up...He has eaten a small amount of meat since coming home...He was tucked inside my fleece to go to the vets and was as good as gold, everyone at the vets love him, all wanted to cuddle him, he is such a wee darling...

Ah so glad he's ok. Keep us updated. I'm sure he will pull through with your TLC! Once he has got his appetite back I'm sure he will be fine. Have you tried all sorts of smelly yummy fish.- like canned pilchard in the tomato sauce I always found that to be a favourite with inappetant cats where I worked. All the best xxx

Glad he's eaten a little Moli, it can be so hard when the lil'uns don't eat enough. The steroid injection should help stimulate his appetite. Let us know how he gets on.

Sorry to read this Pat, all the very best to little Dutch xxx
The cimicat should have enough nurtients to sustain him but you might want to ask the vet about liquivit and or lectade. It's a long slog when a cat/kitten wont eat but keep trying to feed him every two hours.
Wishing you both all the very very best xxx

It started when he was sick, and cats, once they stop eating are difficult to get them started again...

angieh
21-01-2009, 09:12 PM
Yes, Merlin is like that. If he is sick with a particular food, he will not eat it again until he has forgotten that he was sick, which in his case is not all that long as I am sure he has dementia.

I spoke to the vet on the phone this morning, and told him Dutch seems a bit out of it sometimes, almost like he is on something, she had noticed it when I was in on Tuesday with him......and if he continues to display this behaviour feels when he is bigger and stronger should do some blood tests on him, it could be something he was born with......
Also his sisters a huge compared to him, we guessed 6 weeks but were going on Dutch's size, looking at his sisters they are I would say 8-9 weeks, which means he has not grown as he should...All things we will be able to do something about once he is bigger and stronger....
He is still eating though!
