Is there anyone that could give me any advice, Maxi my 7 mth old baby boy started with loose stools with blood and mucus in when he was neuterd a month ago. The vet after treating him with antibiotics first and then steriods has said he has colitus, he is now on the hills prescription diet and a low dose steroid that he should hopefully be off in about 2 weeks.

The thing is I am not happy with the Hills food as I have heard that it is not very good, even though his poops are normal now. I have contemplated trying to introduce raw meet food into the diet wich I don`t really know alot about has anyone got any suggestions.

Hi
My cat Tilly has got inflammatory bowel diease and I have been feeding her on hills d/d and royal canin sensitivity control for the last 2 year and she is fine. If I feed her other food she is sick and won't eat. I haven't found it to be a problem with the hills diet she actually looks healthier as it doesn't upset her tummy. she is going on 12 years and seems to be OK.

The food that Maxi is on is Hills I/D and I have concerns that with him only being a kitten he might not get the proper nutrients etc. that he needs because it is not kitten food, and he is still growing.

Would he be able to go back onto the i/d if normal food didn't work? If her can then I would very slowly mix the i/d with some kitten food. Is he on dry or wet i/d or a mix. here are some sensitive kitten food I found when I googled for sensitive kitten foods

Thanks Elaine I have been on the website link and found it very useful, and thanks Tilly for some examples of the sensitive cat foods I will certainly look into them.
Has any one had any experience in feeding their cats a raw food diet or a combination of both or do you know any one who has that might beable to help on the raw meat side.
I have been told that that is a good diet for cats with colitus and IBD.
Thanks again.

Hi there,
Glad to hear that Cupido is getting better and that his sickness and diarrhea has cleared up.:D :D

The Duck and Green pea formula sounds really interesting is it something that you make or do you buy it ready made?

the food is made by natural balance. It is available on-line at petfoods direct. The dry made him sick, the canned is what he is tolerating well.
