How exciting Tink - what other creatures do you hope to get to live in your tank?

Could you ever have a Weedy Seadragon living in a saltwater tank? I think they are fascinating!

well my OH is the expert but he says in a bit we can put in fish:D there are four in a quarantine tank at the moment, they have a few weeks left before they can be introduced into the system.

yes he was eating when i took that, LOL. there is a log type thing and three of those hang out and eat the fuzz off of it. right now we have snails, slugs, hermit crabs, regular crabs, and a starfish i wasn't able to capture..plus plants. all things that will regulate the tank and get it ready for coral and fish and establish the levels.
oh, and the rock is live too (meaning plant forms are alive in it).:D

if it is saltwater i don't see why not. the thing to remember apparently from listening to him educate me, is what creatures are hardy and get along with the others (as not eat each other , you can provide the correct food, and will not throw your levels off). so he is being careful what he adds as some things can poison your tank and kill everything.

I've been reading up on it Tink as it's something OH and I have always sort of wondered whether we'd like to have. I think the corals etc. would be so lovely to look at.

I know that you can buy seahorses for saltwater tanks in UK, but weedy seadragons live in the warm seas off Australia and I'm not sure if they like the water somewhat warmer. Probably a CITES ban on importing/buying them anyway. The seahorses are OK as they are bred over here.

Look forward to hearing about how your tank progresses. Nice to hear that your OH is experienced with setting up the tanks.
